Editorial Board Meeting

Agenda:  
  1. Introductions - Members of the board include: Megan Turner (GSS Voice Editor), Jeff Napolitano (GSS President), Flavia Stanley (GSS Vice President), Eboni Rafus (GSS Graduate Woman's Network Coordinator), Srinivas Lankala (GEO President), and Elvis Mendez (SGA President)
  2. Charter - newly established editorial board will work in collaboration with the editor as the governing body for The Voice. Charter includes:
    1. Composition - The editorial board will be composed of no more than ten representatives from GSS, GEO, and SGA
    2. Meetings and votes
      1. Board will meet approximately once every three weeks
      2. All decisions require a simple majority vote
    3. Privileges and responsibilities - Board will assist with the following responsibilities whenever possible: assigning and writing articles, editing and laying-out newspaper, distributing the paper
  3. Next paper - The 19.2 issue of The Voice will published on 02/26. All articles are due by either the 02/08 (Editorial board members) or the 02/12 (Reporters) deadline.
  4. Stories  - An official list of all articles and assignments will be e-mailed by the end of January.  Articles include: Business school of management rankings, writing center developments, administrative salaries, Feb. 8 contract rally, diversity round table and response, housing concerns, university jobs, A&E spring preview, movie and book reviews, fine arts center events
  5. Distribution - to be discussed at future editorial board meeting
  6. Schedule - At least three issues will be published this semester. The tentative publication dates are: Feb. 26, April 11, May 14.

  8. Next meeting - slated for Jan. 31 at 4:15 p.m.

Justice for Jason Rally

Here is a message from the folks at Justice for Jason:

DONT LET THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE US-SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!
On Weds. Nov 19th at 3:30 there will be a rally for Justice for Jason. We will start at Pulaski Park in Northampton and march to District Attorney Elizabeth Shiebel's office to deliver the new petitions, statements of support from Western Mass community organizations who have formed a coalition and nearly 100 letters from concerned supporters. Join us on our march for JUSTICE FOR JASON.

CARPOOLS! Carpools will be leaving 2:35 from outside the STUDENT UNION and from the HORSESHOE in Southwest.

GSS Senate Meeting

Thursday November 20th is the next meeting of the Graduate Student Senate. This meeting is open to the public, and is a great chance to get involved in the decision-making that affects our lives at UMass!

Come to Campus Center Room 917 from 4-5pm on Thursday! Food will be served.
