Child Care Voucher Program

Child Care Voucher Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2008 semester (due October 3rd, 2008).

If you are a graduate student with one or more children, you are eligible to apply to the GSS Child Care Voucher Program. Because we recognize raising children while attending school can be a financially difficult venture, GSS provides Child Care Vouchers, subsidies to help parents pay for the cost of child care.

The deadline for child care voucher applications for the Fall of 2008 is Friday, October 3rd, 2008. Completed forms should be mailed or dropped off at the GSS Office:

$30,000 (Graduate Student Senate allocation)

$45,000 (UAW/UMass Amherst Health and Welfare Trust Fund)

$30,000 (Graduate Employment Organization contribution)

$25,000 (One-time donation from the Graduate School)

This is the most recent distribution policy developed for voucher applicants. The distribution policy for this year will be available in October. It is intended to give parents an idea of what to expect. Hence, the childcare committee reserve the right to make changes deemed necessary. DONT LET THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE US-SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!
On Weds. Nov 19th at 3:30 there will be a rally for Justice for Jason. We will start at Pulaski Park in Northampton and march to District Attorney Elizabeth Shiebel's office to deliver the new petitions, statements of support from Western Mass community organizations who have formed a coalition and nearly 100 letters from concerned supporters. Join us on our march for JUSTICE FOR JASON.

CARPOOLS! Carpools will be leaving 2:35 from outside the STUDENT UNION and from the HORSESHOE in Southwest.

GSS Senate Meeting

Thursday November 20th is the next meeting of the Graduate Student Senate. This meeting is open to the public, and is a great chance to get involved in the decision-making that affects our lives at UMass!

Come to Campus Center Room 917 from 4-5pm on Thursday! Food will be served.
