Child Care:
From the beginning of the semester I started working on Child Care fylering; North Village, Lincoln apartments, around campus and via email. Child Care process application cover from; helping parents with the applications via email, phone, and in the office. Calculations for the entire applicants have been completed and child care committee already met and approved some of the applicants who had completed application process. This fall we had around 60 applicants, 15 completed the process and Award letter has been send.

Meetings:
I attended GSS execute committee meeting, to set goals for the GSS staff, and staff meeting touched base of our work on progress. Other GSS meetings; GSS general senate meeting, GSS finance committee meeting and child care committee meeting. Also, attended Graduate council meeting, and Budget council meeting, and other meetings and events of TA, GEO, and SGA.

Office duties:
Office duties covered from customer service to students who need clarification about; child care, funding, Go’s information and other matters regarding to GSS, also, answering phone calls, emails and filling and data entry.

Treasurer (Augusta Sule Mfuko)

Duties performed:
Worked on Child care processing; making phone calls to remind applicants to
send back child care verification letters. Checking applicants status of their
child care applications. Two applications waiting response from the child care
providers.


Meetings:
With Jeff we met  the Chancellor requested funding to cover child care
expenses. Attended GEO meeting, volunteered to help put flyer's to bring
awareness about GEO, also attended staff meeting and EXCO meeting.


Clerical work:
Answering phone calls, photo copies, and attending customers.

What I Did While at GSS:

1. Leafleted at a campus wide all union workers Say No to Question 1 rally at the Campus Center Auditorium.
2. Got on the bus with the Graduate Employee Organization to demonstrate at the Board of Trustees meeting at UMass Boston that workers need a fair contract and that rising fees have effectively eroded the path to access and affordability in higher education.
3. Attended at Justice for Jason teach in at the Student Union.
4. Contributed articles to the Graduate Voice.
5. Plan for a speaker to talk on hate crimes.
6. Plan for a training from the Department of Justice.
7. Research hate crimes protocol.

Justice for Jason Rally

DONT LET THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE US-SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!
On Weds. Nov 19th at 3:30 there will be a rally for Justice for Jason. We will start at Pulaski Park in Northampton and march to District Attorney Elizabeth Shiebel's office to deliver the new petitions, statements of support from Western Mass community organizations who have formed a coalition and nearly 100 letters from concerned supporters. Join us on our march for JUSTICE FOR JASON.

CARPOOLS! Carpools will be leaving 2:35 from outside the STUDENT UNION and from the HORSESHOE in Southwest.

GSS Senate Meeting

Thursday November 20th is the next meeting of the Graduate Student Senate. This meeting is open to the public, and is a great chance to get involved in the decision-making that affects our lives at UMass!

Come to Campus Center Room 917 from 4-5pm on Thursday! Food will be served.
