I take calls, watch the office, reply to emails and other fun stuff.

I learned how to post stuffs on the internet.

The Women's Resource Fair was a blast! A lot of time went into the logistics, but the work was worth it. Almost 30 organizations were present, and it was a great opportunity to network with campus and community groups about violence and safety issues, academic support, leadership and life balance. More events by these organizations and other departments and groups were compiled for an edition of the newsletter, The Graduate WOMAN. I spent the remainder of the week noting successes and suggestions for future events (of which I hope we'll have another fair in the Fall 08 semester).

This week I also attended meetings with Student Bridges, the Justice for Jason committee, the Graduate Council and the GEO Family Issues committee and got the word out about the trustee and referendum vote.

My main priority has been planning the Women's Resource Fair, securing more organizations to be represented and to offer interactive workshops or activities. Logistics have included room arrangement, marketing/advertising, equipment needs and a breakfast for those tabling.

I met with councils/committees, such as the Diversity Council, to represent graduate students' and women's concerns regarding student recruitment/attrition, retention and academic support. Research and policy recommendations are forthcoming this semester. The Childcare committee also met this week to discuss voucher allotments for the semester. And, the Women of Color Leadership Circle met to discuss social identity.

I worked with the Justice for Jason campaign to bring attention to hate crimes, as well as in hopes of bringing attention and change in campus climate in areas such as violence against women.

Graduate WOMAN publication has been delayed, but will soon be sent to the GWN listserv, including details about a Graduate Women Mixer. To join the listserv, email me at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

I spent most of the week preparing for the Women's Resource Fair on Thursday, March 6. The Craft Center has confirmed some exciting, interactive workshops and I am continuing to hear from more campus and community members. I am hoping to incorporate more local International Women's Day event planning. I am finalizing other details to begin a media blitz in the coming weeks.

I have been generating material for the first Graduate WOMAN of the semester and it should be emailed to the list serv shortly. A survey for GWN members will also be emailed in the near future.

In collaboration with the Everywoman's Center, I've been getting the word out about the Dissertation Support Group for Women and the Five College Graduate Series: Women and Psychotherapy. More Spring initiatives and programming to come.

I spent a fair amount of time this week preparing for the February 5th General Meeting; I compiled an agenda, motions, and sent out emails to senators, the entire grad list. Additionally, I designed and distributed flyers highlighting the decision on housing to every room in Prince Dormitory (the graduate student dorm).

I responded to emails, primarily regarding the childcare voucher program. I further helped Rosanna Montilla, our office manager, become familiar with this website and how to use it (create pages, update pages, etc.). I also did usual office duties, like answering phones and mail.

We also looked into and identified equipment to order for the use of GSOs; a speaker system and LCD projector. We're looking for an appropriate vendor, but we should have the equipment within a few weeks.

I worked with Rosanna to get the logistics of the GSS party (February 22nd) all worked out. Graduate students should have that date reserved!!!
